Block Puzzle
Block Puzzle is a calm, colourful puzzle with a sharp edge. You get an 8×8 board and a tray of three blocks. Drag each block onto the board, fill a whole row or column, and it bursts away to make room. There is no timer and no gravity: every move is yours to think through. The game ends only when none of the blocks left in your tray will fit anywhere.
How to play
- Press on a block in the tray and drag it onto the board. On a phone the block floats above your finger so you can see where it will land.
- A faint outline shows where the block will drop. If a row or column would be completed, it lights up before you let go.
- Let go over a lit outline to place the block. Let go anywhere else and it slides back to the tray.
- Blocks cannot be rotated. When all three are placed you get three new ones.
- Rows and columns clear at the same time, so one block can wipe out a row and a column together.
- On a keyboard, press 1, 2 or 3 to pick a block, move it with the arrow keys and press Enter to drop it.
Scoring
Every square you place is worth one point. Clearing lines is where the real points are: one line is worth 10, two at once 30, three at once 60, and it keeps climbing. Clear lines on placement after placement and you build a combo: the second clear in a row doubles the line points, the third triples them, and so on. A combo survives two placements without a clear but breaks on the third. Empty the whole board and you earn a 300 point bonus.
Tips and strategy
- Keep one large open area. A clear 3×3 space means even the biggest square block always has a home.
- Fill along the edges and corners first. Lone holes in the middle are the hardest to fill later.
- Look at all three blocks before placing the first. The order matters: place the awkward piece while there is still room for it.
- Set up two lines that finish together. Clearing a row and a column with one block scores far more than two separate clears.
- Protect your combo. If a clear is one move away, take it now rather than starting a fresh line.
- A greyed-out block in the tray does not fit anywhere right now. Clear a line first to make space for it.
Running out of space
When nothing fits you get two rescues per game, each used once: clear a 3×3 patch of the board, or swap your tray for three new pieces that fit. Your best score and the number of games you have played are saved in this browser, and a game in progress is kept too, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off.
