Gem Match
Gem Match is a bright, quick puzzle game about lining up gems. Swap two neighbouring gems to make a row or column of three or more of the same kind and they shatter, the gems above tumble down, and new ones drop in from the top. Every level has a goal and a limited number of moves, so each swap counts.
How to play
- Swipe a gem towards its neighbour to swap them, or tap one gem and then the gem next to it. A swap that makes no match slides back and costs nothing.
- Each gem colour has its own shape: square ruby, hexagon amber, cut topaz, triangle emerald, round sapphire and heart amethyst.
- Falling gems can make new matches on their own. These chains score more with every step and earn a cheer.
- Goals appear above the board: reach a score, collect a number of one gem, clear the jelly and ice under the gems, or bring golden eggs down to the bottom of the board.
- Ice takes two hits, jelly one. Eggs cannot be matched; clear the gems beneath them so they fall.
- Finish with moves to spare and they become a Gem Rush of free line gems for bonus points. Score more for up to three stars.
Special gems
- Line gem: match four in a line. It clears a whole row or column, in the direction you swiped.
- Bomb: match in an L or T shape. It blasts the 3×3 square around it.
- Rainbow: match five in a line. Swap it with any gem to clear every gem of that colour.
Combos
Swap two special gems together for something bigger. Two line gems fire a cross through the whole board. A bomb and a line gem fire a cross three rows and three columns wide. Two bombs make a huge 5×5 blast. A rainbow with a line gem or bomb turns every gem of that colour into the same special and sets them all off, and two rainbows clear the entire board.
Tips
- Work near the bottom of the board. Clearing low makes more gems fall, which means more free chain matches.
- Save specials for combos instead of firing them right away.
- For egg levels, clear the columns directly under each egg. A column gem under an egg is the fastest way down.
- Stuck? Wait a few seconds and a possible move will wiggle. When no moves are left the board reshuffles itself.
- Use the boosters: the Hammer smashes any one gem without costing a move and Shuffle rearranges the board. You start with one of each, and every 10 stars you collect opens a star chest with one more of each.
- Out of moves? You can watch a short ad once per level for five more.
Your stars and best scores are saved in this browser, and each level you finish unlocks the next one on the map. Close the tab half-way through a level and the board is kept: come back and carry on where you were.
